Description:
Walt Disney is rereleasing its highest acclaimed animation ever,
Beauty and the Beast in 1999. But this will be more than
a rerelease as six minutes of brand new footage and the song “Human
Again” are being added to the film! This will be the first time
Disney has ever added new footage to an animation that it has
rereleased. The rerelease of Beauty and the Beast was originally
planned to be released around the same time as DreamWorks The
Prince of Egypt. The decision to add new footage, however,
drastically changed the rerelease date and looks to be well worth
the wait.

26, 1999) As reported in the Animation Artist Daily News update
for Saturday, September 11, “Animation Artist Magazine has confirmed
with Disney that the rerelease of Beauty and the Beast
is not coming out anytime soon. Disney says that there is no scheduled
release date and that it most likely won't be rereleased until
the year 2001 or beyond.”
