"Just to see what traditional style of animation will do in flash without the cut & paste-piece-by-piece-puzzle style of animation. I thought something like in the tradition style of an arabian nights would really test the program. So I thought I would create a somewhat nerdy version of aladdin and name him "allah dim" who is taking a stroll outside of the sultan's domain and suddenly runs into a mysterious lamp. Just looking for a fair, honest and moderate feedback." ~Benjimina

Comments = Nice rendering for the backdrop. I think the rendering of the character could be more consistent as the backdrop. Rendering of the backdrop has a softer and warmer feel. But the colours of the character are flat, solid colours. They seem a bit harsh as compared to the backdrp. Or is that a language to differentiate the human character and the dream-like, fanstasy-like setting? I think you've done a good job on animating the movement of the clouds.. the walk cycle could be improved though. Character could be more expressive, facial, body language, etc. The timing could be improved. Overall, i like your work. Hmm..it is like stepping into a fanstasy world...it makes one smile. it is a piece of happy work.

Comments = A good start, but the walk is a little slow/choppy and the feet shouldn't slide while he's walking. Also, the "take" at the end needs to be much more broad. Put his whole body into it, like "Whoa! Is that the LAMP?!?" Keep plugging away. A good start!

Some other things that should be fixed are the basic shapes in your BG (ellipse that forms the lamp, for example)

Comments = The artwork style is very imaginative and fanciful, very good for Flash's inherent limitations. The movement of the clouds in the background could appear to be more independant of Allah's movement; and image compression of the bitmaps would help the streaming download times for those of us who are "modemly challenged." But I repeat, I LOVE the style.
