Alias/Wavefront Launches Maya Skill Center at NAB '99

 

 

 

 


(April 3, 1999) Alias|Wavefront, a Silicon Graphics Inc. company, will introduce the Maya™ Skill Center at the Stardust Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, offering NAB '99 attendees and customers exclusive access to Alias|Wavefront technology, personnel, and key development partners. The Maya Skill Center will be open daily, April 19,1999 through April 21, 1999.

Maya Skill Center guests will see the newest announcements from partners such as Genetic Arts, Media 100, Motion Analysis, Silicon Graphics®, Viewpoint Digital, and many others. Get the inside scoop on Maya 2, Maya Fusion, Maya Cloth, and an outstanding new paint-effects system (codename Urchin). Participate in hands-on labs, and learn from the most knowledgeable trainers in the industry. Experience and manipulate real-time motion capture data in Maya and find new ways to create digital effects using a variety of hardware and software solutions.

Scheduled Presentations Include:
Maya Complete 2 Overview, Maya Unlimited 2 Overview, Urchin Preview, Maya Fusion, TiPiT, Maya Complete Particles & Dynamics, Maya Complete-Character Construction & Animation, Lighting Textures & Animation in Maya Complete, Maya Cloth, Maya Complete-Rendering, and Maya Conductors presentations.

Theater presentations will feature speakers and industry notables such as Industrial Light & Magic and Alias|Wavefront's own resident Academy Award winner Chris Landreth. Guests will enjoy refreshments and snacks as they gain behind-the-scenes insight into some of the entertainment industry's most prestigious animations and visual effects masterpieces.

Skill sessions and theater presentations will be on the hour from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Wednesday; hands-on labs and customer sessions will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Wednesday.

Entrance into the Maya Skill Center is free of charge, however, availability is limited and guests are encouraged to pre-register for admission to seminars or workshops. There are two levels of participation in the Maya Skill Center: Gold VIP and Daily Guest Passes.

Gold VIP Pass: Available exclusively to those who wish to attend Maya Skill Sessions between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. daily. Gold VIP Ticket holders will also have unlimited access to all sessions and exhibits running from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily.

Daily Guest Pass: Allows visitors to attend the 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. sessions and exhibits.
