Former NewTek President & CEO
Takes Helm at Electric Image a Play Company

ElectImage(October 5)  On July 21, at Siggraph, Play Incorporated announced that Dwight Parscale was being named CEO of the company's Electric Image division, a leader in 3D animation, modeling and rendering software. From 1995 through March 1998, Parscale was President and CEO at NewTek and was responsible for launching LightWave 3D on the PC, Macintosh, Sun, Alpha and SGI platforms.

"Electric Image has the most cutting-edge 3D technology in the industry," said Parscale. "I'm thrilled to be joining this world-class team and to have the opportunity to take this technology to the next generation."

Michael Cohen, a ten-year veteran of AutoDesk, will join Parscale as the Director of Sales for Play's Electric Image division. Cohen was previously Distribution Sales Manager at AutoDesk and was responsible for the sales and distribution of 3D Studio Max in the United States and Canada.

"These additions to the Electric Image management team perfectly position the company for the exciting plans we have in store," said Paul Montgomery, Play's President and Co-CEO. The Electric Image management team is rounded out by Electric Image founders Jay Roth as Chief 3D Technology Officer, Mark Granger as Vice-President of Research and Development, and Markus Houy as Vice-President of 3D Applications.

Electric Image is widely recognized in the broadcast and motion picture industries as having the most advanced 3D rendering technology available. Its software is used in the creation of blockbuster feature films, such as "Star Wars Special Edition", "Star Trek: First Contact", "The Mask" and "Terminator 2: Judgement Day." Besides its impact on Hollywood's top movies, Electric Image is also widely used for broadcast television graphics, such as NBC's "Dateline", Fox's "The X-Files", and TNT's "Babylon 5".

Play Incorporated is a privately held corporation, founded in 1994 by video industry pioneers with the goal of bringing broadcast television production power to personal computers.
